Union Brother Helping Union Brother
Anthony Roberts Work Party
February 18, 2012
Tony Roberts, a 20-year IBEW union member, works at the Dynegy Northeast Generation Roseton and Danskammer power plants as a 1st class Yardman. He has faced some difficult times in the last two years. Tony was hospitalized after suffering a serious motorcycle accident on his way to work, at which time doctors found an unrelated heart condition. After recovery from the accident, Tony had major heart surgery. While recovering at home, only three weeks after the surgery, the family home caught fire destroying the second floor and heavily damaging the first floor. Due to many complications and unforseen delays, the rebuilding stretched on. Local President, John Kaiser, with the help of shop steward Mike Hichak and Frank Canino, organized a sheetrocking party. Approximately 15 members participated during the course of the day lending a hand carting, cutting and installing sheetrock, while others installed the heating system.

Local President John Kaiser commented, "This is what a Local is, helping our fellow brothers and sisters during their tough times. Some members came to the job site directly from completing working the midnight to eight shift. They are there for each other."
